New Cathedral Choir AuditionsFebruary 6, 2017
Our current Cathedral Choir, formed in 2013, provides musical leadership primarily for the 10:00 a.m. Sunday Mass as well as various parish and diocesan celebrations. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. in the Our Lady’s Chapel. Membership is open to all, Catholic or Non-Catholic, by placement audition. Each year, the Cathedral Choir presents a major choral work for All Souls Vespers, performs in “Christmas at the Cathedral” as part of the Friends of Cathedral Music Concert Series, sings for the Celtic Cross Mass and the St. Patrick’s Day Mass, participates in the Tenebrae service during Holy Week, and sings for the Marian Vespers in May. Placement auditions are always held at the end of August and special auditions are available throughout the year. For more information, please go to sjbmusic.org, and fill out the online form. We are pleased to offer a new choir, the Cathedral Schola. This ensemble will provide choral music for the 11:30 a.m. Sunday mass, September-May, and for the 10:00 a.m. mass May – August. It is made up of select musicians and membership is by audition only. The choir is especially dedicated to the rich musical heritage of the Roman Catholic Church, from Gregorian Chant to vocal polyphony and beyond. It is currently made up of a 4 member professional choral ensemble. Members attend the Cathedral Choir rehearsals. To audition, complete this form.
