This year’s gown is made of fine ivory silk, trimmed with beautiful organza and pure cotton English lace. The bodice is embellished with a framed medallion which is meant to remind us of the rose window over the doors of the Cathedral. There are two panels from hem to bodice made with the technique called “cathedral lace windows.” These were incorporated to demonstrate windows as Saint Patrick’s window in our Cathedral will be highlighted in this year’s theme for the Heritage Ball. The design on the skirt suggests the Trinity in the use of three joined circles, our Christian faith and salvation by the Cross. The many gifts we receive from God are nuanced by the bows and the little flowers cascading from them. The dress was made as a donation to the Cathedral for the sole purpose of raising funds for the Cathedral Endowment Fund. This is a one of a kind Christening gown that will be cherished for generations.
